IMPORTANT NOTICE: Fraudulent Container Sales Scam

Bermuda Container Line (BCL) has become aware of scammers falsely using our Company (BCL) name and logo to advertise and sell shipping containers.

To protect yourself from fraud, please be aware that our Company never sells containers on Facebook or social media, nor do we accept PayPal or third-party payment processors, or request unofficial deposits.

Do NOT send money to anyone until you have verified that it is a legitimate transaction!

How to Spot the Scam

If you are communicating with someone claiming to represent BCL, it is a scam if they:

• Advertise on social media: We do not list containers for sale on Facebook Marketplace, groups, or other social media platforms.

• Send you a quotation on fake BCL letterhead using public email services: Our team will never contact you from a Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or any other free email address. We only communicate using our official registered company domain.

• Demand immediate deposits via PayPal or other third-party payment processors: We do not request deposits through PayPal, peer-to-peer payment apps, or insecure methods.

What to Do If You’ve Been Targeted

If you have been approached by these scammers or have sent money, please take the following steps:

1. Cease all contact with the individual immediately.

2. Report the profile/listing directly to the platform (e.g., Facebook) where you found them.

3. File a report with your local law enforcement or national cybercrime reporting agency. If you are located in Bermuda, please send your complaint to the Bermuda Police Service using fraud2@bps.bm
